Investigations Practice Description

We Know Investigations Inside Out

John Lang has many years of courtroom and advocacy experience in business investigations and federal white collar defense, above and beyond his 10 years of trial experience as a supervising prosecutor with both the Fraud Bureau of the NY County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Bureau. He has successfully represented individuals and companies in need of investigative services, as well as those under investigation.  His clients have included corporations, financial institutions, high net worth individuals, and targets and subjects of state, federal, and international criminal and regulatory investigations.

Danielle Yatrakis, of counsel to our firm, has experience in federal and state white collar crime defense, working on matters before the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Southern District U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the New York County District Attorney’s Office.  In addition to her work as a defense attorney, she has held judicial clerkship appointments for federal and state court judges at both the trial and appellate level, contributing an important perspective to our firm’s capabilities.

We Care About Our Clients

Our mission in white collar matters is to get our client back on track as quickly as possible with a minimum of disruption and publicity.  In conducting civil investigations in commercial and probate matters, our goal is to get the needed information quickly and at minimum cost, consistent with ethical, professional practices.  We seek need in formation through the judicial process, inquiries by firm personnel, and, as needed through private investigative firms and forensic accountants closely supervised by our attorneys.  We represent you efficiently and effectively in the manner most fitting to your case’s particular requirements.

In business crime matters, we tailor our representations to your particular needs and concerns – as an individual, or as a corporation.  Many cases can be satisfactorily resolved through early-stage preemptive advocacy with the involved regulatory agencies, either governmental or industry.  Occasionally, however, a case must be tried; in this event, we develop a suitable defense through more than just a mastery of the facts.  We provide diligent consideration of all legal factors: reporting requirements, effects of publicity, licensing ramifications, likelihood of parallel civil lawsuits, reputation, stress on those involved and their families, and impact on company morale.

No case is too challenging, and no client less important than another.  We do our utmost to answer your every question and respond promptly to your every inquiry.  We strive to include you in our strategic planning process, and keep you apprised of the latest developments concerning your case.
